Resolved Question: Do I pay her 1/2 of the 401K as of the legal separation date or when divorce was final?

I have to pay my ex-wife 1/2 of my 401K... We were legally separated on May 21, 2010, the divorce was final on May 21, 2011. My ex-wife had her "friend" who is a non-practicing attorney file all appropriate papers. The seperation of property was possibly not filed. I will be checking with the courts tomorrow to see if it was. My question is.... Do I pay her 1/2 of the 401K as of the legal separation date in May 2010 or when the divorce was final last month?
